Setup

  1. 1
    Export your existing Roo Code settings as a backup, then download the all-model profiles below.
  2. 2
    Open the downloaded JSON locally and replace every YOUR_API_KEY placeholder with your key using Replace All. Keep this file private.
  3. 3
    Use Roo Code Settings → Import to import the file. This replaces connection profiles; choose any deepthroat / model profile to switch models.

Keep your existing profiles
Roo’s import replaces its saved connection profiles. Back up your settings first, or merge the downloaded providerProfiles.apiConfigs entries into an exported settings file before importing.
Reasoning controls
Each downloaded profile lists that model’s supported native effort levels. Enable reasoning effort in the profile and choose a listed level. Roo’s final release supports up to XHigh; Max and Ultra cannot be selected through its native controls.
Switch models inside your app
Use the configuration profile selector to switch between deepthroat / model profiles. Roo Code is archived; these instructions target its final extension release.

Verify & troubleshoot

Send a short prompt and check Activity. If models are missing, verify the list with the same API key:

  • 401: replace the placeholder with your actual key and check that it is enabled.
  • 402: top up that key or start an hourly plan in the wallet.
  • 404: refresh the model list and check the endpoint. Use https://api.cheapai.gay/v1 as the base URL.
  • Tool errors: select a tool-capable text model and read the tool calling guide.
