DEEPTHROAT DEVELOPER GUIDE

Authentication & keys

Authenticate requests and keep each project’s access and credits in your control.

Request headers

Send your API key in the Authorization header for OpenAI-compatible requests. Anthropic Messages also accepts x-api-key.

bash
curl "https://api.cheapai.gay/v1/models" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
plaintext
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY\nx-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY\nanthropic-version: 2023-06-01

The x-api-key and anthropic-version lines are for Anthropic-compatible clients. You only need one key authentication header.

Key management

Create, rename, enable, disable, or connect keys in API keys. A key’s credits, usage, routing tier, and hourly plan belong to that key. Choose the right active key before topping up or purchasing a plan.

Store a new key securely when its secret is shown. Disabling a key prevents it from making requests.

Keep credentials private

  • Keep API keys on your server or in your coding tool’s private credential settings.
  • Use environment variables for shared project configurations.
  • Keep files containing secrets out of version control.
  • Replace and disable an exposed key.

The website signs you in with an HTTP-only session cookie. That session is separate from the API key used by your application.
