Before you start

One deepthroat key connects Claude Code to all Claude models. Add credits or start an hourly plan on that key.

Setup

    Install or update Claude Code, then choose your operating system in the configuration below.
  2. 2
    Copy the commands, replace YOUR_API_KEY locally, and run them in the terminal where you launch Claude Code.
  3. 3
    Run /model inside Claude Code. Gateway discovery loads every Claude model your key can access.

The settings.json tab is a persistent option: merge it into your user-level ~/.claude/settings.json and replace the key placeholder locally. The allowlist keeps the picker focused on our Claude models.

Reasoning controls
Use /effort to change the current model’s effort. The terminal command includes your choice; Max is session-only and is not saved in settings.json. After switching models, choose a supported level again.
Switch models inside your app
Open /model to switch between Claude models. Restart Claude Code to refresh gateway discovery. Update Claude Code if discovery is unavailable; older versions can use /model MODEL_ID from the included list.

Effort labels show levels available through this harness. These are the current published text models. Your key’s access rules and model availability still apply. Image-generation models use a separate API.

Verify & troubleshoot

Send a short prompt and check Activity. If models are missing, verify the list with the same API key:

  • 401: replace the placeholder with your actual key and check that it is enabled.
  • 402: top up that key or start an hourly plan in the wallet.
  • 404: refresh the model list and check the endpoint. Use https://api.cheapai.gay as ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL.
  • Tool errors: select a tool-capable text model and read the tool calling guide.
